Theoretical Femtosecond Physics: Atoms and Molecules in Strong Laser Fields (Springer Series on Atomic, Optical, and Plasma Physics Book 48) - Kindle edition by Grossmann, Frank. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or cturer: Springer. A section on Fiber Laser has been added in the new edition of the book. Recent developments in planetary detection of atoms and molecules by Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) has prompted the inclusion of a section on LIBS on planet Mars along with its applications.

Theoretical investigations of atoms and molecules interacting with pulsed lasers up to atomic field strengths on the order of 10^16 W/cm² are leading to an understanding of many challenging experimental discoveries. The presentation starts with a brief introduction to pulsed laser physics. Since the last meeting held in July on "Atomic and Molecular Processes with Short Intense Laser Pulses", NATO ASI vol (Plenum Press ), considerable progress has been made in understanding high intensity effects on atoms and the concomitant coherence effects. After four years, the emphasis is now shifting more to molecules.

The books in this series cover a wide range of subjects within the university lasers, cold atoms, solid-state spectroscopy and I.V. and Schulz, C.-P., Atoms, Molecules and Optical Physics Vol. 1: Atoms and Spec-troscopy, (Springer-Verlag ) Silfvast, Laser Fundamentals (2nd edition, Cambridge, ) Svelto, Principles of Lasers (4th. The laser photo-ionization of molecules on surfaces has led to the development of novel techniques of laser assisted mass spectrometry of macromolecules, and so on. The aim of this book is to review these topics from a unified or 'coherent' point of view. It will be useful for many readers in various fields of laser science and its applications.

The interaction of electromagnetic radiation with atoms and molecules and its potential for spectroscopy is outlined in more detail and in particular lasers as modern spectroscopic tools are discussed more thoroughly.

Theoretical investigations of atoms and molecules interacting with pulsed or continuous wave lasers up to atomic field strengths on the order of 10^16 W/cm² are leading to an understanding of many challenging experimental discoveries.

This book deals with the basics of femtosecond physics and goes up to the latest applications of new phenomena. The interaction of electromagnetic radiation with atoms and molecules and its potential for spectroscopy is outlined in more detail and in Atoms lasers as modern Molecules and Lasers book tools are discussed more by: Theoretical Femtosecond Physics-Atoms and Molecules in Strong Laser Fields, Grossmann Books, Springer Books, at Meripustak.

About this book Theoretical femtosecond physics is a new field of research. Theoretical investigations of atoms and molecules interacting with pulsed or continuous wave lasers of up to atomic field strengths are leading to an understanding of many.

In the chapter on laser-driven molecules a discussion of 2D infrared spectroscopy is incorporated. Theoretical investigations of atoms and molecules interacting with pulsed lasers up to atomic field strengths on the order of 10^16 W/cm² are leading to an understanding of many challenging experimental discoveries.

Conversely advances in laser development quickly lead to progress in nonlinear optics. Of particular importance has been the development of tunable visible and Molecules and Lasers book lasers. With the ability to tune the laser frequency into close resonance with atomic transition frequencies, one can produce a large resonance en hancement of the nonlinearity.

Example topics covered by this book include the study of ultrafast processes in large molecules using attosecond pulses, control of ultrafast electron dynamics in solids with shaped femtosecond laser pulses, light-driven ultrafast plasmonic processes on surfaces and in nanostructures as well as research on atomic and molecular systems under.

The book emphasizes the applications of theory, and contains new material on particle physics, electron-positron annihilation in solids and the Mossbauer effect. It includes new appendices on such topics as crystallography, Fourier Integral Description of a Wave Group, and Time-Independent Perturbation Theory.

Book Description This in-depth textbook with a focus on atom-light interactions prepares students for research in a fast-growing and dynamic field.
